As if Ford employees didn’t have enough to fret
about this holiday season, the company’s Human Resources Vice-President, Joe Laymon, has sent ’round an e-mail to
employees warning them that their personal information may have fallen into the wrong hands.

According to the
e-mail, some 70,000 current and former Blue Oval employees have had their confidential information (including social
security numbers and home addresses) compromised when a computer was stolen from a Ford facility. To date, there
have been no confirmed cases of identity theft or misuse of the personal information stemming from this security
issue, and Ford spokespeople state that no product, supplier, engineering or customer data was on the computer. The
manufacturer has reportedly offered to pay for credit monitoring services for those employees affected by the
breach.
