While DaimlerChrylser may have
left the Russian auto industry, Ford continues to try and
make the best of the situation.
The union at the Ford plant in Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Region, in the former U.S.S.R. (now there’s an acronym one
hasn’t seen a while) has persuaded management to equalize pay for all employees in the same category.
Tatyana Morozova, chief legal inspector of the Council of Federations of Labor Unions of St. Petersburg and Leningrad
Region commented that “The unfair pay system practically divided workers of the same qualification into different
groups according to pay. Now the labor union has succeeded in equalizing the pay.”
Ford in Russia has refused to comment on the issue or the major demand of a thirty percent pay increase. Talks are to
resume in January.
