Delphi has previewed a new “clean diesel” technology that would make diesel engines more acceptable in the United
States. The onboard diesel fuel reformer uses “air to convert diesel fuel into a hydrogen-rich reformate during a
catalytic partial-oxidation process”. We could have created that. Right. All this is possible with the technologies
that already exist which could make it possible to make diesels as clean as gasoline hybrids. Delphi wants to bring the
system to production by 2009 to meet tougher emissions standard.
