With winter storms right around the corner, having a little backup power around the house isn’t a bad idea. You never really know when heavy snow or ice might knock out electricity, leaving you scrambling to charge your phone or find a flashlight. A portable power station can take care of those smaller needs without the noise or hassle of a gas generator. And they’re useful well beyond emergencies. Camping trips, football tailgates, road trips, and working on projects out in the garage are all situations where having an outlet nearby can make things easier.
For a limited time, the Vtoman 100W Portable Power Station is on sale at Walmart for just $70, more than half-off its normal $146 price. That’s $76 off a compact power station with an 88.8Wh battery, a 100W AC outlet, a 65W USB-C port, and two USB-A connections. There’s enough capacity to recharge a phone several times or give your laptop some extra battery life when you’re away from an outlet. It also weighs just 2.4 pounds, so you could easily throw it in a backpack or keep it in the car without taking up much room.
52% OffOne of the better features here is the innovative battery, which is rated for more than 3,000 charging cycles. The station can also recharge itself in about 1.4 hours using a compatible 65W USB-C PD charger, so getting it ready for another trip shouldn’t take long. There’s a built-in LED light with three brightness settings, too, which could be handy during a power outage or while camping.
Just keep the size in perspective. With only 88.8Wh of capacity and 100 watts of continuous AC output, this isn’t going to run a refrigerator, space heater, or most power tools. But for $70, it’s a pretty affordable way to keep your smaller electronics charged when an outlet isn’t available.
One buyer said, “It’s so handy for any type of outing, including emergencies. The outlets are an absolute plus so you can charge phones and plug in your laptop. This is beyond a useful product.”
“This is a great power source for any occasion,” said a second satisfied user. “You can take it along with you and charge anything you would want, the battery lasts awhile, and it comes fully charged.”
