Professional arborists might need a chainsaw worthy of Paul Bunyan, but for the rest of us a mini chainsaw is more than enough. A good mini chainsaw can cut branches, trim hedges, and even split firewood, and right now Walmart has a well-reviewed model on sale for a limited time.
The Sentryse Mini Cordless Chainsaw is on sale for $38 at Walmart, 53% off its normal $80 price tag. That price is good on the 8-inch model only — 6-inch options are pricier at the moment — reflects its flash deal discount and an extra $3 you can save when you check a box on the product page.
With the battery installed, this chainsaw weighs just 2.6 pounds. That’s important for a couple of reasons. One, it’s easy to maneuver it where needed, safely, even if that’s one-handed or over your head, particularly since it’s cordless. Two, if you have a lot of work to do, it will take longer for your arms to get tired holding this chainsaw than a full-sized chainsaw that weighs 15 pounds or so. And despite its lightweight nature, the 21V motor in this thing can still move the chain up to 26.3 feet per second, powerful enough to slice through an 8-inch long in 5 to 8 seconds.
Keeping you safe from all that power is a security lock to prevent accidental starts, a protective baffle to block debris, an anti-slip rubber handle, and the included safety gloves and goggles. Also included: two 1,300mAh batteries, charger, oil, 6- and 8-inch chains and plates, a couple of necessary hand tools, and a hard case.
One shopper called this tool “an absolute game changer for yard work.” They love “how incredibly lightweight and compact” it is, which makes it “easy to maneuver.” It’s also “versatile, easy to use, and powerful.”
Other customers called this chainsaw “light and easy to carry” and “very easy to use.” Many also called out the “sturdy case” as a nice inclusion for a saw at this price point.
