“I can’t wait for a power outage!” isn’t something that you usually hear people say. But it’s what one reviewer wrote recently after buying the Oupes 1800W Portable Power Station, which is currently on sale at Walmart.

This power station typically costs $699, but it’s marked down to just $389 for a limited time. And it isn’t hard to see why some people are hoping for power outages so they can put it to the test.

For starters, this power station measures just 15 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 13 inches tall, and weighs only about 30 pounds, making it easy to carry wherever you would like to use it. It’s also easy to keep it charged, as you can take its 1488Wh LiFePO4 battery from 0 to 100% in as little as 4 hours using either a standard AC outlet or a solar panel (not included). Plus, its battery is designed to last for over 4,000 charge cycles and maintain 70% of its original capacity for at least a decade.

But this product really shines when the power goes out, forcing it to spring into action. It can deliver up to 1800W consistently with a 4000W surge peak, enabling it to keep everything from smaller devices, like smartphones and laptops, to larger appliances, such as AC units and refrigerators, running. It also offers plenty of ports — three AC outlets, two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, and one DC car port — to plug in all of these things and provide them with the necessary power.

This power station isn’t just great for power outages, either. Equipped with an easy-to-read LCD display and a built-in SOS signal, it will also come in handy for those who take it camping and RVing. Some people have even started using it for professional purposes.

“I work in the electrical industry, and I was looking for something to run at night instead of a noisy generator,” one reviewer wrote. “It performs even better than expected. It’s light enough to carry around and lasts through the night when I need it to.”

People have also found other creative ways to put this power station to good use, with some putting it in places where they wouldn’t otherwise have a reliable power supply.

“I plugged the lighting system in my shed into it, and it ran three lights and a fan, no problem,” one reviewer wrote. “It’s great for short-term power outages, too, or powering up my tools when I’m working outdoors.”
