A full-size cordless drill is great until you’re trying to squeeze it behind a bracket, under a dashboard, or into some awkward corner of the engine bay. That’s where a smaller cordless drill can be worth having around, especially if you spend a lot of time working on cars. It’s handy for removing interior panels, drilling mounting holes, installing accessories, and dealing with all the little fasteners that come up during repairs. Outside the garage, it’ll handle plenty of household jobs, from hanging shelves to assembling furniture and installing cabinet hardware.

The Milwaukee M12 Compact Cordless Drill is available at Amazon for $66, down just $4 from its usual $70 price. That’s only about 6% off, but the real appeal here is getting a compact brushless Milwaukee drill for $70 or less in the first place. It’s also a good pickup if you already own other tools in Milwaukee’s M12 lineup and have batteries sitting around. The battery and charger are sold separately, so you’ll need to account for those if this is your first M12 tool.

Milwaukee managed to keep this drill limited to just 5.4 inches long, and it weighs under 2 pounds with a battery installed. That should make a noticeable difference when you’re reaching into tight spots or holding the drill overhead for more than a few minutes. Despite its size, the brushless motor puts out up to 350 inch-pounds of torque, with two speed ranges topping out at 450 and 1,550 rpm. There’s also a metal 3/8-inch chuck, electronic overload protection, and a five-year tool warranty. It’s not meant to replace a heavy-duty hammer drill, but for everyday automotive work and household projects, there’s plenty of capability packed into a small tool.

“This little drill is perfect,” raved one happy buyer. “It’s lightweight and, for the price point, I am blown away by the power that this little guy packs.”

“I love this drill,” said a second shopper. “It’s very strong and I have not had any issues. I’m an auto technician and use this daily for various fasteners. I like the variable clutch so I don’t break plastic interior parts.”
