“It’s not the heat; it’s the humidity” is one of those oft-repeated pearls of fatherly wisdom that’s actually true. A dry heat is much more bearable than a humid heat, so if you don’t live in the desert a dehumidifier is a summertime essential. Right now, Walmart has a high-capacity dehumidifier with lots of bells and whistles on sale for less than half of what it would normally run you.

The Joysailor Smart Dehumidifier is on sale for $140 at Walmart, 53% off its normal $300 price tag. It’s recommended for spaces up to 2,500 square feet, meaning you’d be hard-pressed to find a garage, basement, living room, or other indoor space that it couldn’t make more comfortable.

This dehumidifier doesn’t look remarkable — it’s just a big white box on wheels, after all — but under the hood it’s quite impressive. The power is there, as this thing can remove up to 32 pints of moisture from the air every day. It can put that water into the 0.66-gallon onboard tank or through the included 6.56-foot hose if you have a drain available. Those using the tank will appreciate the auto-shut off when the tank is full, and that’s just the beginning of this dehumidifier’s intelligent features. The onboard control panel provides access to all functions and the color-changing LED displays a current measure of the humidity at a glance. It also connects via WiFi to a smart app, allowing for monitoring and adjustment at home and away as well as integration with Alexa and Google Assistant. And it does all of this as quietly as 35 dB, or softer than the volume of a normal conversation.

One shopper wrote that “setup was pretty much plug and play” and the “controls are self-explanatory.” As for its performance, “this unit has done wonders drawing excess moisture from the air” all while being “extremely quiet” with a reservoir that’s “easy to detach and empty.”

Another customer agreed that it’s an “excellent dehumidifier” that’s been “running like a champ” during a hot, humid Chicago summer. “It keeps my unairconditioned basement feeling dry and comfortable” by pulling “a ton of moisture out of the air.” It also has “a nice, sleek modern look” and “the app is a nice bonus, although this unit works great right from the control panel.”

Deals We’re Loving

The Joysailor Smart Dehumidifier is everything you want a dehumidifier to be: quiet, effective, and easy to use. For $140, it’s also a tremendous deal on a well-reviewed model that can make a real difference in your home every time the weather gets muggy.
