Tools have certainly come a long way over time, forcing many mechanics to scramble to keep up with all the latest and greatest hand and power tools hitting the market. However, there is also something to be said for sticking to the basics when it comes to investing in tools that you plan to use while working on cars. For example, you can never have enough high-quality combination wrenches lying around in your garage.
Whether you’re just kicking off an auto technician career and looking to build a tool collection or you’re a long-time mechanic with a huge set of tools that have seen better days, the Gearwrench 14-Piece Combination Wrench Set is one of the best sets you can buy at the moment. This is especially true now that it’s on sale for almost 40% off at Amazon. It usually retails for $95, but you can order one for only $58 for a limited time.
This set features 14 six-point combination wrenches in an assortment of metric sizes, ranging from 6mm through 19mm. They’re constructed from alloy steel, providing them with more than enough toughness and durability to handle auto repairs and maintenance without showing any major signs of wear. They’re also designed to deliver about 25% more torque than previous Gearwrench sets, while giving you a great grip on fasteners and minimizing rounding.
In addition to providing a full complement of metric-sized wrenches, Gearwrench throws in a convenient roll-up tool bag to help you store them all, too. It features clearly marked spaces for each wrench in the set, making them easy to identify while you work and preventing them from going missing.
“It includes premium wrenches for a quarter of the price of Snap-ons,” one reviewer wrote. “I swear by this brand and its tools. They make the best wrenches money can buy.”
“I’m always working on cars, and Gearwrench has never let me down,” another shopper wrote. “This brand is the best.”
