Overview
The 2026 Volvo XC60 has been on the market since MY2018, but it’s still a surprisingly competitive and popular compact luxury crossover, providing a minimalist Swedish brand of understated elegance, refined comfort, and top-tier safety credentials. Deservedly, it’s the best-selling Volvo model ever, at more than 2.7 million sold worldwide to date.
It’s updated for MY2026 with refreshed styling and updated infotainment, but still comes with the same gas and plug-in hybrid powertrains and standard AWD. Strengths include excellent interior space and a comfortable, upscale cabin, keeping it in contention, even against newer German rivals. If you love Scandinavian design sensibility, safety, and a serene driving experience over a sense of sportiness, you’ll love the XC60.
What’s New for 2026
The 2026 XC60 gets a facelift, with a new diagonal-patterned grille like the one on the refreshed XC90, accompanied by darkened taillights and new wheel designs. Aurora Silver, Mulberry Red, and Forest Lake (green) are three new additions to the paint palette. The Black Edition can now be had in Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and Denim Blue paint finishes.
Cabin materials are updated, and the touchscreen grows from nine to 11.2 inches, gaining a faster processor and a simplified interface. A wireless charging pad is now standard on all trims, there are new mesh speaker grilles and larger cupholders, and Core trims gain standard front and rear parking sensors, power child locks, and adaptive cruise control. The Maroon Brown and Amber Nappa leather options are discontinued, the Core and Plus trims no longer have access to leather or leatherette upholstery, and the Plus loses its 12-V outlet in the cargo area.
Exterior
The XC60 may have a traditionally boxy Volvo profile, but it’s proven to be timeless and has aged remarkably well, still exuding classy elegance and confident restraint. The Thor’s Hammer LED headlights flank an updated grille with an intersecting diagonal pattern, and the body-side sculpting and chiseled wheel arches convey strength.
Core trims have 18-inch wheels, growing to 19 inches on upper trims, and 20s are available on the Ultra. The taillights have been darkened for 2026, and the Black Edition has a completely blacked-out exterior with gloss-black accents. The paint palette comprises eight hues.

Volvo
Interior
The uncluttered Scandinavian design philosophy is evident in the cabin, but it’s been updated with a bigger, free-standing 11.2-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In for voice control, navigation, and app access – and still retains physical volume and HVAC controls.
Typically Volvo, seating comfort is superb, with front seat ventilation and massaging available. The base Nordico seat trim feels premium and is made from sustainable materials, but Nappa leather is optional on Ultra trims. The rear cabin is roomy, but trunk space isn’t very generous, though it can be expanded by dropping the split-fold rear seat.

Price Range and Best Value Trim
| Category | Trim Name | Price |
| Base trim | B5 Core | $49,700 |
| Top trim | T8 Polestar Engineered | $79,800 |
| Best value trim | B5 Plus | $54,300 |
The 2026 Volvo XC60’s price list reaches nearly $80K at the top end, but the mild-hybrid $54K B5 Plus is the most sensible buy. For $4,600 over the Core, it adds features such as 19-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control with lane-keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera, remote cabin pre-conditioning, a remote key, and more. Upgrading to the PHEV version of the Plus will add $11,300.
2026 Volvo XC60 Specs Overview
The base 2.0L turbocharged four-pot can be had with either a mild-hybrid or PHEV setup:
Powertrain Options
| Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Transmission | Drivetrain |
| B5 2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder with 48V Mild Hybrid | 247 hp | 266 lb-ft | 8-speed automatic | AWD |
| T8 2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder Plug-in Hybrid | 455 hp combined | 523 lb-ft combined | 8-speed automatic | AWD |
Performance and 0-60 MPH
The mild-hybrid B5 powertrain delivers good performance and is adequate for daily driving, without challenging the class leaders. Still, it accelerates to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, with seamless start-stop in town. The T8 plug-in hybrid is a big step up in price and power, and blasts the XC60 to 60 mph in a rapid 4.5 seconds. The electric assistance means instant response and a wall of torque, shrugging off merging and overtaking with a full load, and challenging many overtly performance-oriented SUVs.
Fuel Economy
| Model | City | Highway | Combined | |
| B5 AWD | 23 | 30 | 26 | |
| T8 AWD (Gas + Electric) | N/A | N/A | 63 MPGe hybrid, 28 mpg gas, 36-mile EV range |
The B5’s efficiency is competitive, but the T8 PHEV offers up to 560 miles of range on a tank and 36 miles of electric range, and will bring real gas savings if you charge it regularly.
AWD/4WD System Overview
All XC60s have an on-demand AWD system that distributes torque according to driving conditions and available grip for enhanced traction and stability on loose surfaces and in snow or rain. On the T8 PHEVs, an electric motor powers the rear axle, and an off-road mode optimizes traction for light off-pavement excursions.
Dimensions
| Dimension | Measurement |
| Length | 185.4 in |
| Width | 78.7 in (74.9 in without mirrors) |
| Height | 65.2-65.4 in |
| Wheelbase | 112.8 in |
Interior Space (Front and Rear)
| Row | Headroom | Legroom | Shoulder Room |
| Front | 39.7 in | 41.5 in | 58.2 in |
| Second Row | 38.0 in | 38.0 in | 56.3 in |
Cargo Space
The XC60’s 22.4 cu-ft behind the second row is rather unimpressive in the compact class, matching the GLC but losing out to most others (the X3 has 32 cu-ft). Maximum space with the 60/40-split rear seat folded down is 63.3 cu-ft. A center armrest pass-through is handy for transporting long items like skis.
Ground Clearance
The 8.5-inch ground clearance is quite decent for rough or snow-covered roads, steep driveway transitions, or light trail use, and the available air suspension on Ultra trims gives height adjustment, lowering the car for easy entry and raising it for more clearance.
Warranty
| Coverage | Duration |
| Basic Limited Warranty | 4 years / 50,000 miles |
| Powertrain Warranty | 4 years / 50,000 miles |
| Rust Perforation Warranty | 12 years / Unlimited miles |
| Complimentary Maintenance | 2 years / 20,000 miles |
| Roadside Assistance | 4 years / Unlimited miles |
| Hybrid Battery Warranty | 8 years / 100,000 miles (T8) |

- Larger 11.6-inch touchscreen for 2026
- Generous complimentary maintenance coverage
Cons:

- Onboard charger is slow for plug-in hybrid
Verdict
The 2026 Volvo XC60 compact luxury SUV is still a compelling choice in its crowded market sector, even eight years after its launch, because it doesn’t chase German sports-sedan dynamics, but stays true to its Swedish roots. The refreshed infotainment eliminates one of the XC60’s most obvious weaknesses, while it’s still strong on comfort, space, and safety. The ride can be a little firm, and the trunk could be bigger, but there are very few other criticisms.
The mild-hybrid B5 Plus is the high-value XC60, providing smooth daily transport, adequate power, and good efficiency, but the T8s provide a big performance punch and all-electric capability – at a hefty price premium. The X3 and GV70 may be more fun to drive, but the XC60 offers Volvo-typical serenity and comfort. It’s ideal for people who appreciate these talents and who love it for its design elegance and safety.
