Overview

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator carries forward the role once filled by the Town Car, blending traditional American luxury with the everyday usefulness of a modern SUV. This three-row mid-size SUV sits below the full-size Navigator in Lincoln’s lineup and offers seating for up to seven passengers, along with a richly finished cabin that feels closely related to its larger sibling.

A twin-turbocharged V6 delivers class-leading standard horsepower, giving the Aviator a rare mix of relaxed ride quality and performance punch. This model fits families who want a spacious luxury vehicle, tech-focused buyers drawn to advanced driver assistance systems, and shoppers who prefer bold American design over European alternatives.

What’s New for 2025?

Lincoln applies a broad refresh to the Aviator for 2025. The front fascia features a revised grille and updated LED headlights, paired with new sequential lighting animations that activate as the driver approaches. The headlights are upgraded to adaptive units on the Reserve and Black Label, now able to adapt the illumination based on driving conditions such as steering angle and speed.

Inside, a new 13.2-inch central touchscreen joins a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, both running the Lincoln Digital Experience based on Android with built-in Google Maps. A four-year subscription to Lincoln BlueCruise hands-free driving technology now comes standard across the lineup. A heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof are also added as standard on all trims, along with adaptive dampers.

Lincoln also introduces new exterior colors and interior trim options. The Black Label trim gains a new Invitation interior theme and offers a Special Edition package that adds blacked-out exterior accents and 22-inch Ebony Black wheels.

Exterior

The Aviator presents a confident stance defined by broad proportions and recognizable Lincoln design elements. The refreshed front end incorporates adaptive pixel LED headlights on Reserve and Black Label trims that adjust light output based on speed and steering angle. Lincoln Embrace welcome lighting creates a choreographed illumination sequence as the vehicle unlocks. A Jet Appearance Package delivers a darker, monochromatic look, including a unique grille treatment and optional 22-inch high-gloss black wheels for a more aggressive visual profile.

Interior

The cabin emphasizes comfort, craftsmanship, and calm. A panoramic Vista Roof comes standard and fills the interior with natural light. Perfect Position front seats offer up to 30-way adjustment with massage functionality, enhancing long-distance comfort. Black Label models showcase exclusive interior themes, including Flight, Invitation, and the new Moonbeam design, which features genuine Moon ash wood and specialized leather finishes. An available 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio system delivers immersive sound, with additional speakers integrated into the headliner on Black Label trims.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator’s price lineup consists of three trims, with the Reserve striking the strongest balance between luxury content and overall value for most buyers.

The Lincoln Aviator’s 400-hp twin-turbocharged V-6 ranks as one of the most powerful standard engines in the mid-size luxury SUV class. The 3.0-liter engine pairs with a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering quiet highway cruising and strong acceleration when pressed. The standard suspension favors a plush, compliant ride that aligns closely with Lincoln’s comfort-first philosophy.

With combined ratings of 20 to 21 mpg, the Aviator trails several all-wheel-drive rivals, including the BMW X5 xDrive40i and the Volvo XC90 B5. In real-world highway testing, a rear-wheel-drive Aviator Reserve recorded 22 mpg, falling well short of its EPA figure.

Warranty

Lincoln supports the Aviator with coverage that stands out in the segment, particularly for powertrain protection.

Pros and Cons

ProsCons
+ Class-leading 400-hp standard engine– Fuel economy trails competitors
+ Luxurious, well-appointed cabin– Ford Explorer underpinnings dilute prestige
+ Standard BlueCruise hands-free driving– Black Label pricing approaches six figures
+ Distinctive American styling– Third row best for children only

Verdict

The 2025 Aviator delivers a clear interpretation of modern American luxury within the competitive three-row SUV space. Its twin-turbocharged V6 provides the highest standard horsepower and torque in the segment, while the softly tuned chassis emphasizes ride comfort over sharp handling. The 2025 update modernizes the technology suite, highlighted by the Google-based infotainment system and standard BlueCruise hands-free driving. The Reserve trim stands out as the most rational choice, offering core luxury features without the steep jump in Aviator’s price that is seen with Black Label models. Fuel economy remains lower than key rivals like the BMW X5 and Volvo XC90, and the shared Explorer platform may matter to brand-focused buyers. For shoppers who value quiet comfort, strong straight-line performance, and distinctive styling, the Lincoln Aviator midsize SUV remains a compelling alternative in this segment.
