Overview
The 2026 Lexus UX subcompact luxury SUV is exclusively offered as a hybrid in the U.S. market, with the 300h designation spanning all four grades. The Toyota fifth-generation hybrid system combines a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder with dual motor-generators through a planetary CVT, returning an impressive 43 mpg combined on FWD models. Both front- and all-wheel drive are available at every trim level.

What’s New for 2026
F SPORT Handling trim gains a standard power liftgate with kick sensor, and Ultra White (below) joins the color palette for the Base and Premium trims. The Premium and F Sport trims now gain the bigger 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, but the base trim still makes do with the smaller 7-inch display. The door panel buttons have a new layout and chrome accents.

Exterior
The UX profile sits lower than most segment rivals. Lexus’s spindle grille graduates its block-mesh elements outward from the central emblem, flanked by arrowhead-pattern LED daytime running lights above the main lamps. The Aero Stabilizing Blade Lights sequence features 120 LEDs across the liftgate, narrowing toward the center, and also reduces rear aerodynamic turbulence. All grades wear standard 18-inch run-flat tires.

Interior
A low instrument panel and slim A-pillars noticeably open the forward sightline over taller rivals. Base models use a 7.0-inch multi-information display; Premium and F SPORT grades step up to a 12.3-inch unit. The central touchscreen is 8 inches on Base through F SPORT Design and 12.3 inches on F SPORT Handling, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard throughout. NuLuxe synthetic leather covers the eight-way power-adjustable front seats at every grade.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- 43 mpg combined leads the subcompact luxury segment
- LSS+ 3.0 standard across all grades, adds three active safety capabilities
- Powertrain warranty exceeds that of most class rivals
- F SPORT Handling’s Active Variable Suspension improves both handling and ride
Cons:
- 17.1 cubic feet of cargo space is the lowest in the segment
- Rear seat space is inadequate
- 0-60 mph times are the slowest among comparably priced rivals
- Complimentary maintenance covers one year versus three years from BMW and Infiniti
Verdict
The 2026 UX 300h makes its clearest argument on running costs. At 43 mpg combined, it undercuts the fuel expense of every comparably priced luxury subcompact on sale, a gap that accumulates over the ownership period in a way that the sticker price difference with some rivals does not fully reflect. The limitations remain fixed, and worth stating plainly that the cargo capacity at 17.1 cubic feet is the lowest in class, combined with the tight rear seat space. Premium is the right trim for most buyers, covering the everyday use add-ons.
