Overview
The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat performance midsize SUV is the last new vehicle you can buy powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine. Producing 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, and with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, it launches the family SUV to 60 mph in a ferocious 3.5 seconds and doesn’t call it quits until 180 mph.
Besides speed, it also offers genuine capability, with up to three seating rows and a towing capacity of up to 8,700 lbs. The 2025 Durango SRT Hellcat comes in three limited editions – Hammerhead, Silver Bullet, and Brass Monkey – with undisclosed production numbers, almost as if Dodge wants to keep a back door open for an additional model year, even though this is supposed to be its last. Rivals include super-SUVs such as the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and BMW X5 M.

What’s New for 2025
The 2025 Durango lineup comprises only GT, R/T, and Hellcat trims, with only the latter covered here (we review the regular Durango separately). Three variations of the SRT Hellcat, called the Hammerhead, Silver Bullet, and Brass Monkey, are available to mark 20 years of Hemi Durango production. Each has its own styling details, but they share the same powertrain. The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat’s price is $84,995, following a huge price reduction of nearly $17K over the 2024 model.

Exterior
The Durango SRT Hellcat commands attention with its big presence, aggressive wide-body stance, performance exhaust, and functional hood scoop that feeds the supercharger. Some of the extroverted paint options include Octane Red, with stealthier options including Destroyer Gray and DB Black. The optional Black package blacks out the grille, badging, and wheels.
Self-leveling LED headlights and LED DRLs are standard, as are front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. The standard footwear is composed of 20-inch alloys shod with 295/45ZR performance tires.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- 710-hp supercharged V8 delivers unforgettable acceleration
- Best-in-class 8,700-lb towing for a three-row performance SUV
- Practical three-row seating with generous cargo space
- Significant 2025 price reduction improves value
- Collectible appeal as the last Hellcat-powered new vehicle
Cons:
- 13 MPG combined demands a serious fuel budget
- Platform dating back to 2011 shows its age
- No 360-degree camera or advanced driver-assist suite
- 5,575-lb curb weight hampers cornering agility
- Premium unleaded required adds to already high running costs
Verdict
The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is a brutal muscle car on stilts, in the guise of a family SUV with seats for up to seven. With 710 hp, seating for up to seven, and a maximum towing capacity of 8,700 lbs, nothing blends family hauling and brute force in one practical package quite like this. On the minus side, the platform is really aging, some cabin plastics are well below what we’d expect from an $80K car, and fuel consumption is dismal. But for someone who wants the Hellcat engine, this is the last application it will likely ever be in, and it makes for one heck of a weekend getaway car that can also do the school run.
