Overview
The 2025 Audi S3 is a compact luxury sport sedan that occupies the entry point of Audi’s S model performance range, sitting above the standard A3 and below the more focused RS 3. Built on the MQB Evo platform, it pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard Quattro all-wheel drive, now with a torque-splitting rear differential carried over from the RS 3. A refreshed exterior design and upgraded cabin materials accompany the mechanical changes for this generation. The S3 targets buyers who want sporty performance in a compact, daily usable sedan.
What’s New for 2025?
The 2025 S3 receives its most substantial update since the current generation arrived for 2022. Output rises 22 horsepower to 328 hp, with the maximum 295 lb-ft of torque now accessible across a wider rev band spanning 2,100 to 5,500 rpm. A standard rear torque splitter and new swivel bearing suspension, both derived from the RS 3, join the chassis to sharpen lateral dynamics, traction, and steering response.Â
A new Dynamic Plus drive mode is added, giving the driver independent control over torque splitter behavior, stability control parameters, maximum engine torque, idle speed, and rev limiter settings. There are also external revisions to the grille and lighting, both front and rear. The Audi Connect NAV trial subscription extends from six months to three years, and access to the in-vehicle Audi App Store becomes standard with a Connect Plus subscription.
Exterior
The S3 distinguishes itself from the A3 through a hexagonal frameless Singleframe grille with L-shaped design elements and large angular side air intakes that visually lower the front end. A motorsport-inspired front spoiler with two vertical struts connects the intakes, while the rear receives an S-specific split diffuser design with vertical side reflectors referencing the RS model styling cues, and four tailpipes as a standard S model identifier.Â
Standard LED headlights now offer four selectable digital daytime running light signatures switchable through the MMI, with optional Matrix LED headlights available. The S3 rides on standard 18-inch wheels, and optional 19-inch wheels are available, including a performance summer compound tire option.
Interior
The S3’s cabin opens with dark trims, a black roof lining, stainless steel pedals, and illuminated door sills with aluminum S-logo inserts. Standard ambient lighting adds color accents to the doors, footwells, and center console. The primary interface is a 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen, with infotainment complemented by a 10.25-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster, upgraded to the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit Plus on the Prestige grade (optional on the Premium Plus as part of the Technology package).
Front sport seats carry integrated headrests and pronounced side bolsters for lateral support, while the steering wheel gains a hands-on-detection leather-trimmed three-spoke design with shift paddles as standard on Premium Plus and Prestige. Synthetic leather armrests and two-zone automatic climate control come standard across all trims, and Fine Nappa leather seats are available as a standalone option on Premium Plus and Prestige. The 15-speaker Sonos system is standard on the Premium Plus.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- RS 3-derived torque splitter and swivel bearing suspension standard
- Six Audi drive select modes, including new Dynamic Plus
- Standard Quattro AWD across every trim
Cons
- Cargo volume of 8.3 cu-ft is the smallest in its class
- Synthetic leather is standard; Nappa leather costs extra
- Rear headroom is limited for taller passengers
Verdict
The 2025 S3 makes the strongest case for itself since the current generation launched, with RS 3-sourced hardware now standard rather than aspirational additions. Its 0 to 60 time of 4.4 seconds and 26 MPG combined place it among the most balanced performers in the compact luxury sport sedan class. The Premium Plus trim adds the Sonos audio system, adaptive cruise, and the hands-on-detection steering wheel for $2,400 over the base Premium, and makes for a pragmatic choice for most buyers, although the 8.3-cu-ft trunk and the absence of complimentary maintenance remain shortcomings against rivals like the BMW M235i Gran Coupe.
