The Nissan Rogue remains a balanced family SUV

The Nissan Rogue has been among the brand’s top-selling models for years now, but it’s the range-topping trims that truly turn heads. While the Rock Creek edition brings a more unique look and upgraded capability off the paved path, the Platinum model boasts plenty of premium amenities that set it firmly at the top of the range. Is the Platinum worth $5,000 more than the Rock Creek, though?

Adventurous styling versus refined elegance

The Rogue Platinum, available from $38,990, rides on 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that create a more graceful aesthetic. The range-topping model also features a standard moonroof and integrated turn signals in the side mirrors. Standard equipment shared by both Rogue models includes LED lighting, a power liftgate, and heated side mirrors.

Priced from $33,990, the 2026 Nissan Rogue Rock Creek features a more rugged appearance, starting with 17-inch dark aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. It also gets a black front bumper and tubular roof rack. While it’s positioned as an off-road model, the Rock Creek shares the same wheelbase and ground clearance measurements as the Platinum trim.

Identical performance, slightly different fuel economy

All Rogue models come powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, and the Rock Creek and Platinum are no exception. Mated to a CVT, the three-cylinder engine produces 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard in both models. Thanks to its extra gear, the Rock Creek offers lower fuel economy, up to 29 mpg in combined city/highway driving. The Platinum model is a bit more efficient, earning up to 31 mpg in combined driving. Both models can also tow up to 1,500 lbs. when properly equipped.

The Platinum model dominates in tech and comfort

While the Rock Creek boasts a more rugged style that extends to the interior, the Platinum trim leans more on the side of luxury and comfort. Even so, both models feature heated front seats, a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Rock Creek stands out from the rest of the Rogue lineup with exclusive leatherette-appointed seats with contrast stitching and Rock Creek badging. The Platinum model includes a standard heated steering wheel, memory seats, and semi-aniline upholstery.

The Platinum model leads the Rock Creek in tech by a fair margin. While the Rock Creek gets a six-speaker audio system, the Platinum trim boasts a 10-speaker Bose premium sound system. It also tacks on a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, easily eclipsing the Rock Creek model’s seven-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard in the Rogue Platinum, whereas if you opt for the Rock Creek, you’ll need to settle for a wired connection.

The Nissan Rogue Platinum boasts a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, more than 50% larger than the Rock Creek model’s eight-inch touchscreen. Notably, the Rock Creek offers two 12V power outlets, while the Platinum features just one. The range-topping model also includes wireless smartphone charging, Google Assistant, integrated Google Maps, and real-time traffic and weather information.

When it comes to interior space, the Rock Creek and Platinum offer slightly different dimensions. The Rock Creek edition measures in at 36.5 cu ft of cargo space with the rear seats in their upright position, 0.2 cu ft more than the Platinum model. The Rock Creek model also offers 105.4 cu ft of passenger space, 5 more than the Platinum.

While the 2026 Nissan Rogue Rock Creek offers more adventurous amenities, the Platinum brings a more refined driving experience. It’s clear the range-topping model dominates when it comes to tech and comfort, but the Rock Creek’s trim-exclusive seats and style can’t be ignored. While not as noticeable as the Rock Creek edition on the road, the Platinum model manages to justify its $5,000 premium thanks to its advantages in tech, comfort, and convenience. Which one would you pick?
