The 2026 Nissan Leaf in a Nutshell
Here’s a fun fact for you: Leaf stands for Leading Environmentally-friendly Affordable Family car. Okay, it’s pretty long-winded, but an amusing little factoid nonetheless. The Nissan Leaf is also known for being the first mass-produced electric car when it was introduced in 2010.
Three generations in, the Lead underwent a major transformation. Nissan changed the formula for the 2026 model, turning it from a compact hatchback into a compact crossover. The redesigned EV also saw massive improvements in battery range and capacity, something the last model sorely lacked.
Three trim levels are available for the Leaf, with prices ranging from $29,990 to $38,990.

In a bid to get more people in its EVs, Nissan’s lease deal for the Leaf is even more affordable than last month’s promo. This December, the mid-spec SV+ can be leased for $479 for 48 months instead of the usual 36, and there is a downpayment of $3,409.
The higher-spec Platinum+ can also be leased for $596 per month under Nissan’s SignatureFlex program. There is a mileage restriction of 10,000 miles per year, but the program allows additional miles at $0.10 per mile.

2026 Nissan Leaf Highlights
The Nissan Leaf range consists of the S+, SV+, and Platinum+. But regardless of trim, all Nissan Leaf models use a 75 kWh battery that powers a single motor. It’s good for 214 hp, and its range hovers between 259 and 303 miles.
The S+ already comes with niceties such as NissanConnect and ProPilot advanced driver assists. The SV+ adds more USB ports inside, alloy wheels, Google apps, wireless charging, and a six-speaker audio system. As for the Platinum+, it gets a panoramic glass roof, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, a power tailgate, and heated seats all around.

Final Thoughts
Those looking for an EV with a reasonable price, the Nissan Leaf is one to shortlist. It offers excellent value, a surprisingly upscale-looking interior, and it’s agreeable to drive. The Leaf also offers a great range for the price, something worth looking at to quell any range anxiety fears. The best part is, it charges up much quicker now, and there’s also access to Tesla’s Superchargers.
