The 2026 Mini Cooper in a Nutshell

When BMW revived Mini as an entire brand in 2000, there were admittedly some questions about its longevity. Over 25 years later, the British marque is still going strong thanks to a wide and expansive range of cars. Granted, these aren’t quite as ‘mini’ as they once were, but Mini’s existence and relevance to this day prove it was no passing fad.

All of that wouldn’t have happened without the Cooper from 2001, although its lineup was much more complex then, with models like the One for the entry-level market and more. These days, all the hatchbacks and convertibles are called Cooper. The reboot models are now in their fourth generation, and they have been joined by an EV model that is yet to be made available in the U.S.

2026 Mini Cooper Lease Deals for March

We were pleasantly surprised by this month’s lease deals for the 2026 Cooper, as most versions of it and the Cooper S have offers under $400 per month. Starting with the Cooper two-door, it costs $359 per month for 39 months, with $3,829 due at signing. Go for the four-door, which goes up to $369 for 39 months and $4,035 due at signing. The brisker Cooper S two-door can be leased this month for $369 for 39 months with $4,048 due at signing, the five-door is $389 per month plus $4,071 due at signing.

Prefer the Mini topless? The Cooper Convertible is at $439 per month with $4,154 due at signing, while the Cooper S Convertible has a monthly rate of $449 and a due-at-signing price of $4,551. The punchy JCW models are also included, with the two-door at $449 per month and $4,422 due at signing, and the convertible at $439 per month and $4,154 due at signing.

So, what’s the catch? Annual mileage is limited to a low 7,500, so it’s best to be very careful with that disclaimer. Also, it’s $0.25 per mile over the limit. This offer is valid until March 31, 2026.

2026 Mini Cooper Highlights

The 2026 Mini Cooper is available in three body styles, priced from $29,500 to $44,600. Cooper two-door and convertibles have three trims consisting of C, S, and John Cooper Works (JCW), while the four-door only comes in C or S guises. You’ll have to go for the Countryman for a four-door JCW.

For standard features, all come with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Intelligent Personal Assistant, head-up display, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and advanced driver assists. Cooper S models get a more powerful engine plus more advanced driver assist features. As for the JCW, it gets the most potent engine tune, plus a unique suspension arrangement, bigger brakes, an electronic front diff, and an exterior aero kit.

All Coopers use a 2.0-liter turbo engine, each with differing outputs. The Cooper C models make 161 hp and 184 lb-ft, while the S bumps that up to 201 hp and 221 lb-ft. As for the JCW cars, they put out 228 hp and 280 lb-ft.

Final Thoughts

In a world that’s fast becoming ruled by crossovers and SUVs, the Mini Cooper is a breath of fresh air. As far as we can tell, it’s also the only subcompact hatchback left in the U.S. Choosing this car is a bold and individual choice, and it’s worth applauding those who do. It’s safe to say that the Cooper’s novelty still hasn’t worn off after all these years, and you’ll be guaranteed to get a lot of smiles per gallon behind the wheel.
