The 2026 Lexus GX in a Nutshell
Not content with just two SUVs in its lineup in the early ’00s, Lexus added a third in 2002 with the GX. Based on the Land Cruiser Prado, it followed the same formula as the larger LX by taking a Toyota model, adding more luxuries, and making it a standalone model.
The third-generation GX still follows the same script, and it’s now based on the 250 Series Land Cruiser. It was introduced towards the tail end of 2023, swapping the curvy, elegant exterior of its 14-year-old predecessor for a boxier, more rugged look. It hasn’t received a facelift, and there are no major updates to report for the 2026 model year.

Do bear in mind that not all states have a lease deal for the GX, and there is no uniform national offer for it, either. That said, we found that some of the more accessible offers were on the East Coast. With that, it’s $769 per month for 36 months, with $5,999 due at signing for the entry-level Premium model.
This month’s offer is slightly higher than the last one we published, although not by much. Total mileage is capped at 30,000 miles, so that’s 10,000 per year, and exceeding that cops a penalty of $0.25 per mile. This offer is valid until June 30, 2026.

It’s worth noting that the Lexus GX also saw a slight price adjustment recently, with base prices now ranging from $67,835 to $82,945. There are six trims available for the midsize luxury SUV, namely Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.
All standard equipment includes four-wheel drive, Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power tailgate, and LexusCare. Premium, Premium+, Luxury, and Luxury+ get three-row seating, while the Overtrail and Overtrail+ are exclusively five-seaters.
There is a hybrid version that’s rumored to be coming soon. In the meantime, however, the sole powertrain choice is a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 349 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Final Thoughts
Why buy a GX over a Land Cruiser? For those who believe that SUVs of this size must come with V6 power at the very least, the Lexus is the only way to go. But aside from the engine, the GX offers a more elevated driving and riding experience than its Toyota-badged counterpart. The best part is, it doesn’t come at the expense of on-road and off-road capability. If anything, it’s even more capable.
