The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 in a Nutshell

Is it a crossover or chunky hatchback? Whatever it is, the Ioniq 5 (along with the Ioniq 6) brought Hyundai’s EV push to the next level. It showed the world that the South Korean automaker was very serious about its efforts. There’s attention-grabbing design inside and out, along with impressive tech and hardware to go with it.

The Ioniq 5 made its world premiere in mid-2021 and received key updates in 2024. It included visual changes, a new infotainment system, some chassis upgrades, and most importantly, a rear wiper. For the 2026 model year, the EV gets new color choices, a standard digital key, more infotainment improvements, and additional standard equipment.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Highlights

If we include the AWD models, there are eight Ioniq 5 trims to choose from with a price spread of $35,000 to $45,075. All come standard with advanced driver assists, heated front seats, wireless phone connectivity, Bluelink +, and a digital key. SEL models then add wireless charging, leather, front power seats, and a power tailgate.

As for the XRT, it gets unique exterior and interior details to give it a more adventurous look, along with about an inch of extra ground clearance, all-terrain tires, terrain models, and standard all-wheel drive. At the top is the Limited that comes with a Bose premium sound system, memory seats, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a fixed panoramic glass roof, and additional driving assists.

The sole Standard Range model uses a 68 kWh battery, while the rest benefit from a larger 84 kWh pack. The base model makes less power at 168 hp and 258 lb-ft, but the rest of the RWD lineup puts out 225 hp and has the same torque figure as the Standard Range. Opt for all-wheel drive, and it adds a second motor that boosts power to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft.

Final Thoughts

Dare we say it? The Ioniq 5 is probably one of the best EV crossovers in the market today. The update gave it even better range and more performance, so what’s not to like? It also helps that it presents good value no matter the trim, and it’s hugely practical to boot. To top it all off, it offers a driving experience that soothes the brow, but it can be a fun steer if one is in the mood for some corner carving. The Ioniq 5 is a wonderful all-rounder, and EV shoppers should put one in their shortlists.
