The 2025 Kia Niro in a Nutshell
Kia has a huge array of crossovers to choose from, almost to a point that some of them aren’t getting enough attention. One of them is the Niro, and it’s one of two subcompact models one can choose from in the lineup. Mind you, there used to be three small crossovers in Kia’s range, but the Soul will be no more after the 2025 model year.
Size-wise, the Niro shares the same space as the Seltos, the latter seeing a redesigned model for 2027. That said, the two have different target markets, with the Niro aimed at those looking for a reasonably-priced hybrid or electric vehicle. We’re currently in the second generation of this model, and it was introduced in 2023. Since then, it has carried over with not many changes.

2025 Kia Niro Highlights
One can choose among four trim levels available with the 2025 Niro. It starts off with the LX, followed by the EX and SX, and topped off by the SX Touring. Prices range from $26,990, all the way to a still reasonable $35,390. All come standard with basic driver assists and phone connectivity. The EX adds roof rails, a power driver’s seat, a larger infotainment screen, highway driving assists, and automatic climate control.
Move up to the SX, and it gets additional features such as ventilated front seats, a sunroof, a Harman/Kardon sound system, and a power tailgate. As for the SX Touring, it gets larger 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and a couple more sporting bits to add more flair. But regardless of trim chosen, all use a 1.6-liter hybrid with 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

Final Thoughts
It’s not the most obvious choice in the Kia lineup, but the Niro’s key selling point is that it’s one of the least expensive hybrid crossovers in the market today. With prices starting under $30,000, it presents a tempting value proposition. Couple that with great gas mileage and its surprising practicality, and the Niro makes for a good starter hybrid for anyone. With affordable lease deals on offer, it’s definitely worth a look.
