The 2025 Audi Q7 in a Nutshell

Audi made the right call to stretch the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne platforms to build the Q7. Previewed by the Pikes Peak Quattro concept in 2003, the production version rolled out in November 2006 and has been a hit for the brand since. Now, the Audi range consists of several crossovers, and that wouldn’t have been possible without the Q7.

Two generations of the Q7 have been made since then. We’re still in the second-generation model, and it’s been around for a good decade now. It’s received two facelifts since, with the most recent for the 2025 model year. With that, expect the current model to hang around for a few more years before the all-new version appears alongside the larger Q9.

2025 Audi Q7 Highlights

The 2025 update brings with it a refreshed front end that includes a new grille and reshaped bumpers. It also gets some tweaks at the back with a new bumper and tail light elements. New wheel designs are also part of the changes, as well as updates to the interior and technology.

For trims, there are four: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige, and Prestige Sport Plus. From the get-go, the Q7 already comes with advanced driver assists, matrix LED headlights, wireless phone connectivity, and Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus. Meanwhile, the Premium Plus gets 20-inch alloys, 360-degree cameras, wireless charging, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Move up to the Prestige, and it swaps the turbocharged four-cylinder for a boosted V6. It also includes ventilated and massaging front seats, a heads-up display, air suspension, and laser headlights. As for the Prestige Sport Plus, that one adds adaptive air suspension, 21-inch alloys, and the S Line exterior package.

All models badged 45 use a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that’s good for 261 hp and 273 lb-ft, while the 55 models have a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with 335 hp and 369 lb-ft. The V6 is optional for the Premium and Premium Plus Trims, and standard in the Prestige and Prestige Sport Plus.

Final Thoughts

Yes, it’s a decade old now, but the Q7 manages to hold off much newer competition. Despite its age, the big Audi still impresses with its comfortable ride, acres of space, easy-to-use tech, and surprisingly dynamic handling. Third-row seating is standard, so that’s a bonus for those who occasionally have to bring a pair of extra passengers, and cargo space easily outdoes its German rivals.

A luxury crossover isn’t a sensible choice as there are loads of three-row SUVs out there for less, but the Q7 somehow appeals to both head and heart.
