The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an icon in every way
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was introduced in 2010 as a more accessible version of the rather outlandish Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The first Mercedes-Benz model designed and built entirely by AMG, the SLS AMG is powered by the 6.2L M159 V8 engine, which produces 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. At the time, AMG claimed it was “the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production series engine” ever produced. Several variants of the SLS AMG debuted throughout the model’s lifespan, and this 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is up for sale on Bring a Trailer. Check out the full listing by clicking here.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT debuted in 2012 in both coupe and roadster form. Despite having the same 479 lb-ft of torque, its power output was slightly boosted to 583 hp, resulting in a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds, down from 3.5 seconds. Other performance-focused additions to help the AMG GT stand out from the base model include a reduced transmission reaction time in manual mode, AMG Ride Control Performance suspension, and selectable suspension modes. With a name that stands for “Super Leicht Sport” or Super Light Sport, the SLS AMG weighs 3,569 lb, a significant upgrade from the SLR McLaren’s 3,858 lb curb weight. All of these factors combined reportedly make it a more capable track car in the hands of both experienced and regular drivers.

This one can be yours
This particular 2013 example boasts a mere 2,300 miles on the odometer and is finished in AMG Imola Gray over a Designo Classic Red and Black leather interior. Some of its standout features include staggered 19″ and 20″ 10-spoke alloy wheels, gullwing doors reminiscent of the 300SL, an airfoil, bi-xenon headlights, heated and power-adjustable seats, AMG Performance Media data tracking, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a COMAND infotainment system with navigation, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Design-wise, it’s hard to argue that the SLS AMG isn’t as visually stunning as its SLR McLaren sibling. Gullwing doors aside, the E-Type-like elongated bonnet and short decklid, straked fender vents, and polished exhausts give it supercar looks that scream “fast” even at a standstill. A special mention goes out to the taillights, which sweep upward across the rear with an eyeliner-like black outline and a striking red brake light across the middle. The interior echoes the same vibes, courtesy of the Designo Classic Red and Black color scheme, a smattering of carbon fiber accents throughout, and a fairly optimistic 240-mph speedometer.
That’s not to say that the SLS AMG’s top speed of 196 mph is anything to scoff at. After all, it completed a lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in under 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Of course, power like that needs to be tamed occasionally, too, which is where the red AMG-branded brake calipers with cross-drilled and slotted rotors come into play.
That hand-assembled 6.2L M159 V8 is a proud machine, and even when largely covered up by its engine cover, it’s easy to see that it’s not your run-of-the-mill powertrain. Given its low miles, the listing doesn’t report any service visits apart from an oil change performed by the selling dealer in April 2025.

Final thoughts
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is just a damn sexy car, no matter how you look at it. Personally, I would have opted for a more outlandish paint job since I like to stand out, but if you’re looking for sleek performance that doesn’t shout it from the rooftops, this one is for you. The extremely low miles make it an essentially new-to-you car, and the current bid price of $236,000 reflects that. Considering the SLS AMG GT’s base $199,500 MSRP in 2013, we’d say some healthy appreciation took place, signalling enthusiasts’ passion for all things that go fast and bear the Mercedes-Benz star.
The auction ends in five days, so you have a bit of time to decide if this is the ride for you, but we expect that bid price to increase significantly by then.
