Jarryd Neves is an automotive journalist and content creator with experience spanning specialist motoring media, business journalism, and public relations. Based in Cape Town, he specialises in automotive news, with particular interests in emerging Chinese vehicle brands, data-driven industry analysis, and automotive history.
He began his career at CAR Magazine in 2019 before moving into business and current-affairs journalism at BizNews, where his work covered finance, politics, general news, and the automotive industry. He later joined CarBuzz, where he spent more than two years as an Associate Editor covering automotive news for an international audience.
Away from the keyboard, Jarryd is an avid car enthusiast, his preferred choice of propulsion being a supercharged Jaguar XF — a source of immense joy behind the wheel and occasional anguish at the gas pump.
Experience
Jarryd began his professional journalism career in 2019 as an editorial intern at CAR Magazine, one of South Africa’s leading automotive publications. There, he gained experience in specialist motoring journalism before joining BizNews in 2020.
At BizNews, he covered a broad range of subjects, including finance, politics, general news, and motoring. He also wrote his own finance column and contributed to the publication’s radio programme.
He later moved back into full-time automotive journalism with CarBuzz, serving as Associate Editor for more than two years. During his tenure, he wrote more than 3,500 news articles covering developments across the global automotive industry.
His work has also appeared in publications including Mail & Guardian, News24, and AutoAdvisor.
Jarryd currently works as a content creator for a public relations firm, producing automotive content while continuing to draw on his experience in journalism and industry reporting. His areas of interest include automotive news, market and sales data, emerging Chinese automotive brands, and the history of the motor industry.
