As the year starts to come to a close, Ford is ramping up production of the 2017 F-150 Raptor and opening orders for customers. The 450-horsepower, Baja-blasting supertruck can be yours starting at $49,520, if you don't get booted to the back of the waiting list. Ford has said that 65 percent of early builds have already been claimed.

While the truck may start at fewer than $50,000, good luck finding one for that price. Based on the configurator, it seems most customers want a four-door model. That means at least $52,505. Once you tack on options like the popular technology package or a spray-in bedliner, the Raptor's price can easily balloon to well over $70,000.

If that sounds like a lot, it is. But trucks aren't cheap, and all the special equipment, from the high-output twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 to the special Fox suspension, adds costs and complexity. So if you have the dough and want one of the most capable and badass trucks on the market, build your vehicle or just head to your local dealer before they're all claimed.
