There are some names and words that come up on these pages more often than not, but seldom do we get to report on such enticing European curios as Donkervoort and Blister Berg. And now they're coming together.

Donkervoort, for those unfamiliar, is a Dutch firm that makes the D8 GTO – arguably (if not empirically) the most extreme take on the original Lotus Seven ever to roam or roar around road or track. Blister Berg, meanwhile, is a private circuit – not unlike the Monticello Motor Club in New York or Ascari in Spain – where we drove the Porsche 911 Turbo S last year.

The tie that binds them together, as you might have guessed, is that Donkervoort (aside from having a branch office at the track) holds the lap record for production cars there – trouncing numerous supercars in the process. So to celebrate, the Dutch niche automaker has announced a new D8 GTO Blister Berg Edition.

Details are scarce at the moment, as Donkervoort is saying only that the special GTO will encompass a new front-end design and various upgrades developed on the site. Production will be limited to just 14 examples, with further information to follow in the new year – so watch this space.
