Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak SE to be launched at Quail Motorcycle Gathering

Ducati is planning to unveil a new special edition version of the company's Multistrada at this year's Quail Motorcycle Gathering. Officially branded the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak Special Edition, the bike is designed to pay homage to Greg Tracy's win astride a Ducati mount at the 2010 hill climb and comes slathered in a host of drool-worthy goodies. Those include a Ducati Corse paint scheme and black-anodized passenger foot pegs with a matching engine cover. The Italian bike maker also threw in a set of unique wheels with red pin striping to boot.

The Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak SE ships with a Termignoni silencer and a low windscreen in addition to the standard stock pieces. The parts are EU approved and hewn from carbon fiber to keep weight as low as possible. In addition, a CF front mud guard is part of the package as is a special seat with red stitching. Otherwise, the special-edition bike is mechanically stock.

DUCATI RETURNS TO THE THIRD ANNUAL QUAIL MOTORCYCLE GATHERING

Cupertino, Calif. (10 May 2011) - For the third consecutive year Ducati will return to the Quail Motorcycle Gathering; using the intimate venue for the North American unveiling of the new Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition.

As a sponsor of the Quail Motorcycle Gathering since its inception, Ducati is excited to return for the third edition and has teamed up with the Quail Lodge to make a unique ticket package available. The

Colorado Springs, May 12--------The Quail Motorcycle Gathering on Saturday in Carmel Valley, CA, will witness the North American unveiling of the new Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition, Ducati announced today.

Alongside the Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition, there will be several brand new models on display at the event, including the all-new Monster 1100EVO and the radical new Diavel.

As the newest addition to the Ducati lineup, the Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition celebrates theMultistrada 1200's win in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb by Greg Tracy. It comes with a replica Ducati Corse-style paint scheme, passenger foot-peg hangers and engine guard anodized in black finish and sport red pin-striping on the wheels.

In addition to the original equipment silencer and screen, the Pikes Peak Special Edition arrives with an EU-approved Ducati Performance carbon fiber silencer by Termignoni and a race-derived low screen in carbon fiber. A Ducati Performance carbon fiber front mudguard, and custom made seat detailed with red stitching complete the specs.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which began in 1916, is America's second oldest motor sports race behind the Indy 500. The race is staged on a 12.42 mile course with 156 turns. It begins at 9,390 feet and ends at the famous mountain's 14,110 foot summit above Colorado Springs.

A featured event along with the race, is the popular "Fan Fest," which takes place on Friday evening, June 24, in downtown Colorado Springs, with more than 30,000 fans on hand to meet the competitors, see the autos and motorcycles, and enjoy music, food and entertainment.
