According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), Kia Motors continues to be the fastest growing automotive company in the European market. In 2005, its sales had grown thirty-nine percent compared to 2004. The company has also increased marketshare to 1.6% for 2005.
What's the reason? "Riding the momentum of robust sales growth of the Picanto in 2004,” said Yong-Hwan Kim, Senior Executive Vice President and COO of Kia Motors Europe, “Kia (also) enjoyed brisk sales performance of the all-new B-segment Rio and Sportage compact SUV in 2005." Kim also stated that he expects the company to maintain its growth with its new lineup as the Magentis (sold as the Optima in the U.S.) and a new MPV specifically designed for the European market go on sale this year.
