The image you see above is just about all we know of the new Volvo crossover that will be revealed at 8:30 pm Central European Time on May 17 (2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time). Volvo released three very short video teasers, all with the tagline "Leave The World Behind," all of which feature a member of the now-defunct band Swedish House Mafia – Axwell sits in a boat in the first, Sebastian Ingrosso walks toward cabin in the second and Steve Angello stares at the sea in a third.

A microsite, www.leavetheworldbehind.com, accompanies the teasers and it's been said that a short film by Lune will feature the band - Swedish Mafia had a hit in 2009 with the song Leave the World Behind. As for the vehicle, theories are that it could be something between the V40 Cross Country and XC60, the new XC90 or something else entirely. We don't have long to wait, and you can watch both teasers below.

Looks exactly like a 2014 XC60 with the accessory (fake) skid plate on the front. Same proportions, same DLO shape, etc. Perhaps they are revealing a special edition or new engine for the XC60, but I'm doubtful that it is an all-new model. Are we sure this isn't mainly a reuniting announcement for the band or something?

This is almost surely the long-rumored XC40, a more SUV-ish version of the V40 Cross Country. The teaser photo seems consistent with that as well. Per AutoExpress: The mini-SUV category is "absolutely an attractive segment," Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo's new CEO told us. "The V40 Cross Country is beginning to address that segment, but there is definitely space for a specific XC40." Too bad the current product plan will not bring such a vehicle to the U.S.; I think there would be quite a welcoming market for it here.

I would be very interested in a xc40 model especially if it looks more butch, right now only options are Evoque which is high on my list and the mercedes Cla, x1 fail a shoe, q3 fail, q5 fail, clk fail all look odd.

Bet it still has that tired old design inline 6 engine or worse the inline 5 . Seriously Volvo bring out a 21st century design power train instead of one designed back in the 80's. We were going to buy C70 but after checking out the drivetrain specs. we went with a CTS AWD Stealth edtion and got better gas milage but more importantly in a luxury sport car more power and a smoother engine without a freaking turbo!

Long time lurker... First time commenter. Think it's actually the production plug-in hybrid version of XC60. Saw an article how Volvo is doubling prod on the V60 hybrid diesel.
