Workers outside of Austin are still hammering away on the new Circuit of the Americas Formula One track, but race fans and gamers will get a shot at driving the course before the first tire hits the tarmac. Codemasters' "F1 2012" will feature the track in all of its pixelized glory. The game will officially hit the market this September, but players will get a chance to grab the controller for the first time at E3 early next week. Codemasters has been kind enough to slip the world a few screen shots of 2012-specification F1 cars prancing around on the new course.

Players will be able to command every official team from 2012 on all of the official courses. Look for the game on multiple platforms, including Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft xBox 360, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. Head over to the game's site for more information.

How is it that a bunch of video game engineers can put together a accurate representation of a circuit not yet completed in a video game. Yet the executives at the Circuit of The Americas cannot come up a realistic seating and pricing structure on paper?

because the track was created on the cumputer using CAD all codemasters has to do is barrow the data and blammo. sense it is a brand new track there shouldent be very many imperfections to worry about. i cant wait to see this track it will have the fastest streightaway in F1 history!

You forgot the most important platform if you want it to look the best. The PC

pretty much any game is best on the PC, save racing games, I've never played a racing game worth a damn on a PC.

rFactor 2, Live For Speed, iRacing, GTR 3, Assetto Corsa, pCars, and that's just hardcore sims. What kind of racing games do you consider "worth a damn"?

Considering console games tend to always out sell a pc game when made for both options I don't exactly believe you.

I've only played F1 2011 a few times since Forza 4 came out close to the same time as it did. But I will still pick up F1 2012 when it comes out.

Codemasters are seriously slacking on a sequel to GRID. They also need to get on an IndyCar game stat.

I like how the blurred white lettering (denoting tire compound) on the Williams car makes it look like they slapped a set of wide whites on it! It somehow looks much stranger to me than the yellow on the McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull cars does.

That is overdone, especially in a turn like that, the speed is not going to be near enough to make it look like a set of whitewalls.

I've never cared about F1 or really racing in general....but I really wanna check this out since it's only a couple hours down the interstate from me.

If you don't even care about racing, you should leave the tickets to true F1 race fans. You will definitely not enjoy the experience of the traffic congestion if you are just "curious".

Was F1 2011 any good? Never really heard anything... wondering if this game is worth checking out.
