EVO drives a Lamborghini Countach 1,200 miles across Europe – Click above to watch the video after the jump

We love modern day supercars – the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, Audi R8 and so on. But nothing gets our motors running like classic supercars – the original performance machines that created the horsepower and speed wars. Case in point: the Lamborghini Countach. This Italian Stallion from the 1970s and 1980s is perhaps one of the most iconic supercars of all time, and having the chance to drive one these days is very, very rare.

Not so for EVO magazine's Harry Metcalfe. Recently, he was given the task of driving his Countach QV 1,200 miles from the French Riviera back to the United Kingdom. How does the classic supercar handle on such a long drive? Metcalfe videotaped the whole experience, and we encourage you to see for yourself in the just-under-10-minute video clip, after the jump.

The car still looks and sounds fantastic (except for the crappy add-on stereo pod next to the instrument binnacle).

This is absolutely the greatest supercar of all time.

Finally, a car video where the engine's exhaust note is the soundtrack. I'm so tired of some lame heavy metal garbage blaring out and not hearing what the car really sounds like.

Great video and I'm not even a Lambo fan.

The first supercar my young eyes laid themselves upon. Can't take them off it ever since. The Countach is in the pantheon of Supercar Gods.

There was actually a great article written by Ocatne about driving this same QV to Italy to be tested by Valentino Balboni with three other Countach's. It is a great read and I highly recommend it if you enjoy this...

Don't Countaches have notoriously heavy clutches? Can't watch the video at work, but his left leg must've gotten a pretty good workout.

Yes they do. Not to mention the impossible task of trying to parallel park one of them. It was plastered on every wall of my bedroom growing up. It's great to read all the other comments with the same sentiments. I found myself nodding my head at each post and thinking how I worshipped it the same.

For those whom have never seen one in person. They are a sight indeed. Pictures are worth a thousand words but seeing it in person is totally different.
