The Smart rumor mill keeps churning and this latest image adds even more fuel to the fire. Thanks to some crafty, long-lens work, a photographer has managed to capture a diminutive example of a four-passenger Smart ForTwo.
The 1:4 scale model clearly wears an extra set of doors and the wheelbase, if scaled up to full-size, is also longer than current Smart ForTwos.

Smart has dealt with some sales issues of late and a new model could be what the automaker needs to spark renewed interest in the States. The ForTwo is due for a makeover and the addition of a four-seater could be compelling for city folks who want to transport friends. If the Roadster winds up in production, Smart will have three-pronged approach to renewing its appeal among U.S. consumers.

      That's not a 1:4 scale version. That's actual size.

That's not going to be its real name, is it? If so, that would be the worst car name since I-MiEV.

Is it just me or do they look old? Like I styling mockup of the first For2, or possibly the For4?

I work for Smart, and this car isn't what was described to me as the new 4-door. Also, I know somone who drove the new Nissan I mean Smart and they said it's WAAAY sportier. Anyway, this isn't it. Well, maybe for euro, but not USA.

It's the transmission dummies. Put in a regular ole 5 speed and people will buy them.

Amen! That and increase the MPG and you will have a car that makes more sense.

Even after all these years, it is amazing that some people are still making stupid remarks about the smart brand and in particular the smart fortwo.
It always seem to be the sort of critics who's yardstick only measures cubic inches.

There is only one word for this, IGNORENCE

Those smart bashers would do well to get some reliable information on this little quality car before making stupid comments.

Ummm, they shut down almost every Smart dealer leaving just a handful nationwide (U.S.) and they want to introduce a new model or models - way too late - these models will be better designed for Europe. I am really surprised Smart has not pulled completely from the U.S. with their dismal sales.

Wasn't there a ForFour for sale like, 6 years ago?

I believe Smart had a good range of 3 cars 6 years ago.

American public: "Let's see, shall we get the Versa/Yaris/Fit or the Smart ... all for about the same money?" I hope Smart is not wondering why they didn't take off.
