Honda VFR Adventure Concept – Click above to enlarge

Honda is planning to debut an arsenal of eight bikes in Milan, and we may have our first inclination of what to expect from at least one of the machines. Behold the VFR Adventure Concept – a 1200cc behemoth designed to cater to those who like the style of dual-sport tourer but loathe the notion of actually heading off of the beaten path. Think more along the lines of the Ducati Multistrada than the KTM 990 Adventure.

As of right now, details are remarkably scarce about what to expect from the machine, though some seem to think that the bike will likely show up as a 2012 production model.

So what does the VFR Adventure bring to the table over the current VFR? From what we can see, it looks like riders can expect a slightly taller stance with more ground clearance and a skimpier fairing, but not much else. Honda has been pretty tricky about letting this one out of the bag, keeping news of the concept to its European press site. Does that mean that American buyers won't be able to get their gloves on this one? Hard telling.

Honda Hornet / 599 = best selling bike in Europe for many years.

Honda VFR, the first 6 generations = devout following and iconic status in racing and on the street.

New Honda VFR = better engine, not a better bike.

Honda's are not for everyone, just for more people than any other manufacturer in the industry.

Hopefully a new Pan European that has absolutely no relationship to the VFR 1200.

honda is beyond a doubt the lamest bike manufacturer. From the africa twin to a 2000 pound starbucks machine, what a joke

There are absolutely no details available. Using the VFR name does not mean its the current VFR 'on stilts'.

Please reserve judgment until we actually see what they are offering. I'm personally more of a Suzuki and Yamaha fanboi, but Honda has had several home runs and makes quality reliable machines.

I believe his point is that it's pretty sad to see the company that spawned the Africa Twin put a VFR on stilts and call it an adventure bike.

Except that they are the largest ICE manufacturer and motorcycle manufacturer. And don't forget they pioneered the sportbike in the 50s and 60s and currently make the CBR bikes. lame? I think not.

Honda could end up leading the pack with bikes. Especially if they make them a bit lighter perhaps.
