Rod Millen's Goodwood run in a Toyota Tacoma -- Click above to watch video

Last year, Rod Millen took his Toyota Tacoma Pike's Peak runner to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Looking, sounding, and handling nothing like a Tacoma, and powered by – according to the caption – a "2-little turbocharged 4-cylinder," Millen flings the thing up the hill, all the while the forced-induction drivetrain is chattering away like a pack of rabid chipmunks. He manages to avoid the hay bales, but then nearly collects what looks like a Bowler Nemesis at the end for his troubles. Follow the jump to watch the video.

Pure evil...also, front end looks like an 80's Mercedes SEC coupe.

Man, I thought he was gonna slam into that Bowler Wildcat at the end. He has it locked up a few times, trying to slow down in time.

      looks UGLY!!!!

No way! This can't really be a Toyota. They don't have any race vehicles according to the comments you all post every single time a Toyota or Lexus is mentioned on here.

If I remember correctly motor trend or one of the big 3 car mags had millen run that thing down the 1/4 mile on it's pikes peak dirt racing tires. It ran mid 9s.
oops, I meant 10k ft of elevation, not 10k RPM.
I remember that article, it was quite a while back(well, at least as far back as the Tacoma had that body style). I was pretty impressed with the time considering the dirt tires. But, if I recall, the engine is also rated to make like 800hp at 10k RPM. At sea level, who knows what it makes.

I remember that artical as well. I'm left wondering what kind of tires he had on it for this run.

It looks like you could run another motor of what is blasting out of the tail pipe of that 4 cylinder. BMW used to make over 1,500 hp from a turbo charged I4. They used production blocks that had to come from a road cars with approx. 20,000 kilometers on it. Something to do with hardening the iron block before subjecting it to the forces of turbo charging.
I think they left the blocks outside in the weather for some time.

That thing is in Rallisport Challenge 2 (original Xbox game, the best-looking racing game of its generation and still the best arcadey rally racing game ever made), it's one of the last cars you get. It's a lot of fun to drive, looks like it's a bit harder to handle in real life.

The smoke is astounding. That thing must be running water or methanol injection to product that much smoke.
Rallisport Challenge 2 is absolutely the best game of the genre. I wish they would update the graphics for a new game, but leave the game physics as is. It's still fun to bring out the original Xbox for a play....speaking of.

I'd like to know how fast he was going over the crest when he saw traffic. That thing is squirming all over trying to rein in the speed.
Jesus Christ on a cross!!! That thing is just insane. Millen has some serious skill to be able to handle that thing on a tight course like that especially getting over in the grass like he did.

WTH is up with the Range Rover la de da'ing at the end?
      That's a Tacoma? God... awesome.
That Land Rover is a Bowler Wildcat, which is bascially a street legal Dakar Rally truck.
Honest mistake to confuse it for a Land Rover. I sure did.

I bet the Nemesis has more in common with the Range Rover it borrows grille and lights from than Miller's race car has in common with a Tacoma.

Is it a 2 liter diesel? Geez that thing is smoky!

That thing is other-worldly fast. I am in awe.

Freakin' hot! This thing is awesome. Happy to see it make another appearance.
