RR of the Day: Darth Subie

Flickr member Lostangel's late model Subaru WRX STi was the personal whip of a Sith Lord in another life. Either that, or it has just returned from an audition for the role of K.I.T.T. in the upcoming Knight Rider movie. Seriously though, Lostangel has completely changed the demeanor of the affable WRX into something much more sinister. Up front he swapped the front clip with a JDM STi front end, then he removed the "shopping cart" rear wing and replaced the trunk with one made of carbon fiber. Tinting the glass all the way around and removing every bit of pink from the STi badging finishes off the black out treatment.
Performance mods so far have been measured and include a K&N Typhoon Intake, Magnaflow Titanium catback exhaust, ACPT Carbon Fiber driveshaft and short throw shifter from Kartboy. More engine mods are on the way in the form of a turbo upgrade, improvements for the fuel system and new pipe work. The current set of rollers on the car is the stock set of 17-inch BBS rims, powdercoated black of coures, but 18-inch SSR Professors in black are on the way.
Inside Lostangel's converted the interior lighting to red so that it now matches the glow of the gauges. The stereo has also been kicked up a notch with a Clarion base deck that sports red lighting, new Kicker speakers all around and two Kicker low-profile 8-inch subwoofers under the front seats.
And for those who are wondering what his vanity plate means... "All-Wheel Drive For The Win."
We've gotten a few more WRX and EVO submissions, but keep them coming. We've also decided on a theme for next week: Camaros! Everyone with a Camaro of note should submit his or her ride to our Flickr pool. We have no Camaros in the pool right now, so we need to fill it up with enough submissions to cover all of next week. Just follow the instructions after the jump to submit.

How to submit to RR of the Day:
Create a Flickr account if you don't already have one. Search for and join the group called 'Autoblog RR of the Day'. Upload up to three photos of your ride to your own account at a size no larger than 450 pixels wide if possible and include as much information about it and yourself as possible. Even if your ride is sweet, it will not be chosen if there's not a lot of info accompanying it. Click on each photo and just above the picture it will say "Send to group". Click that and select the Autoblog group. You're done, that's it!

For those of you who were questioning whether it would get tuned... it did: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1011/1185891925_14d13ebc83.jpg
Harman Motive did an amazing job. However, the older I get it's funny how much I agree with some of the later posts. I'd love to get the badging back on it and a much more silent exhaust. The titanium is louder than snot and the car rattles like a bucket of screws. Although it still goes like hell... Anyone wanna trade for a Prius? ;)

Sorry but having 5 of the same cars was a lame idea and makes RR of the week boring. Much better with totally different vehicles.

Uh, no having this new RR format is better.
That way you're not comparing a Ferrari with say a Ford Focus. *rolls eyes*

I disagree, they need to maybe have 5 sports cars, 5 off road vehicles, but having the same specific class like Camaros only, or Jeeps only, or Subaru's vs. EVO's is lame.
I still like the totally different vehcles much more, and a Focus should be happy to have been featured, who cares who wins the poll.

Quite a boy ricer you're having there. De-badged WRX with a carbon fiber trunk and a ridiculous front doesn't make your car any better. It's a rally car so why throw money away at carbon fiber components when you can improve the engine and suspension to make it handle like a proper rallye machine. Have fun "racing" Civics and Mustangs.

I love the weird and wonderful cars that theyve been showing on RR of the week. Their most choice example was that Jensen Interceptor a while back.

Autoblog should have a vote before they change the format: Stick with the awesome variety of cars that gives everyone a chance to be featured at any time, or switch to the lame boring same vehicles or same vehicle class each week.

when you say JDM front end, is that a fu,ll JDM from the firewall forward? engine, trans, all assoc hardware, and fenders and bumpers?
if so, thats a hell of a big job, kudos!

#10: Looks like just a JDM front bumper to me.

The vanity plate is embarrasing to say the least. How old is this guy, 13?
The car is just a dime a dozen no-taste ricer. Why is crap like this making it into rr of the day?

i'm sure it performs well, but look at the side view.
still as unappealing and boring as a sentra.
big deal you can get the kids and groceries wicked fast now, not 1 person you pass will say " wow nice looking car"
and I too miss the variety of RR. and tired of subies already.

Ricey? What the hell are you talking about?
It's blacked out. No wings, no stickers, no crazy body kit, it's very minimalist, not flashy at all...and it's really powerful.
Just what exactly about that is ricey?

I'm sorry, just doesn't do it for me. Maybe RR should just feature reader's cars and skip the poll. Then it doesn't matter whether the autos are dissimilar or not. I like the variety.

OMG an STI with body mods...Yawn... This is even more lame because it is only AP stage 1. It would at least have balls if it were stage 2 protuned with meth injection.
Reminds me of the thread on www.nasioc.com in member's gallery where the girl put a reverse scoop hood on her otherwise stock sti, that still has the top mount intercooler!
