GM and Isuzu are boosting production if the 6.6–liter Duramax diesel engine to supply increased demand and new products. Hummer has recently announced the Alpha performance line for all models and the H1 Alpha is powered by the 300hp/605 ft-lbs Duramax. GM may be looking to add the option to the H2 and H3 models (will that fit under the H3 hood?). Production of the diesel will reach 195,000 engines this year.

My understanding is that the Allison will not be offered. Does anyone know?

I would actually want to buy a diesel H3, and I think it should have been an option in the H2 from the start.

I dont see why GM couldnt do this, it is already being done by aftermarket converters http://www.predatormotorsports.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=6

If the Duramax fits under the hood of the H3, probably its chassis won't be able to hold the weight and torque. I believe there will be a diesel option for this Hummer, but it will be far smaller in desplacement, power and torque than the 6.6 V8 Duramax. I would like a diesel option on both H2 and H3, with a manual transmission.
