The General Motors women’s affinity group recently met to discuss
how to make GM vehicles more user friendly. Some of the suggestions included designing the front seat to hold a handbag
or briefcase, and updating the language in manuals (changing ‘throttle’ to ‘gas pedal,’ for example). There were no
suggestions about headrests designed to accommodate
ponytails, though.

Women are a major factor in the process of buying a new vehicle and in the decision to purchase one in the first
place, and manufacturers are paying attention (See here
for Mercury’s approach).
