Testing snow tires in Florida

Sure it’s just a short anecdotal piece from the AP, but this story has some interesting plot lines just the same. Goodyear sent about 50 retailers to an AAir Force Base in Florida to try out new winter tires at a high tech military installation used to test aircraft in adverse conditions. Yes, the technology of being able to create snow and desert sandstorms in the same place is intriguing. But the real interesting thing to me is that Goodyear rented out the place for between $15-$30,000 a day. That’s some trip to gain your retailers’ confidence. But I guess Goodyear can write it off because at the same time they’re testing super secret products for the future.
