Some fields are so red hot, 401k plans and gym memberships are not enough to lure the right candidates. And apparently to get the best people in the competitive West Coast tech world, you’ve got to dangle a Tesla.
Seattle-based Axon is offering a Model 3 to some candidates, including a web developer and
full-stack engineer, the
Seattle Times and other local media reported. Employees must stick around for at least 90 days, and existing workers can get on the Tesla list by referring three new workers to Axon.
Axon is a unit of Taser International and develops software and hardware (like body cameras) for police departments. Axon has also promoted itself with unconventional methods before, including using a sailboat this summer to promote its mission, the
Times reported.
While a car is a great perk, the $35,000-Model 3 isn’t coming to the market until 2017 and it has a waiting list with hundreds of thousands of potential customers.
