What you’re looking at above is the GYM Car concept designed by Coventry University design student Da Feng. As you might guess, its design incorporates exercise equipment that allows the driver to take his or her workout on the road. The GYM Car itself is a single-seater with a lightweight, injection-molded, magnesium alloy chassis and carbon fiber bodywork.
The GYM is powered by an electric motor with batteries that can be recharged by plugging it in or, and here’s the interesting part, through the use of the onboard workout machinery. When the vehicle is parked, the driver can use any or all of the built-in equipment to generate electricity for the charge. There’s a stepping machine and rowing machine available using the sliding seat, pedals and steering wheel. There’s also a bench press or pull up simulator that uses the seat and an overhead handle. The arm rests can even be used for curls thanks to their tensioned resistance. Pretty much any move you make inside the GYM Car will burn calories and generate electrons at the same time. Check out more renderings in the gallery below.

And if you save enough money you might be able to buy one of these: the GTbyCitroen. £1.1 million ($1.83 million USD) gets you more exclusivity and wackier looks than a Veyron or Reventon. If you want to see what kind of looks you might get when you drive it, check out this vid of the GT on a bitumen-hugging tour of London…[Thanks for the tip, John]

In the Rendered Speculation category, Auto Bild unveiled a rendering of the coming Audi A6. Audi — or Auto Bild — looks to have taken its previous sketches seriously. If the coming car does get this face, perhaps it can begin to assert itself properly in the premium-mid segment. It should show up next year, along with the slightly delayedA7 Sportback…

If, on the other hand, you think that the “ideal driving experience is not driving,” then you’ll want to check out the atnmbl. That’s short for “autonomobile,” a product of San Francisco Industrial Design firm Mike and Maaike. An ultimately wired home/living room/office that takes itself where you need to go, it pooh-poohs speed and acceleration in favor of time savings. You’ve still got some time behind the wheel, however — the atnmbl isn’t due until 2040…

You might want to get yourself in a Holden before 2040 as well, if you ever plan on driving one. According to newspaper The Age, Holden is facing “material uncertainty regarding continuation as a going concern” due to a $70 million U.S. loss and a balance sheet upside down to the tune of $250 million U.S. Still, while it’s looking rough, the old girl isn’t dead yet…

Mercedes, on the other hand, is getting ready for life at the top with its SLS supercar. Spotted with a lot less cladding we can begin to discern the lines, and in case you’ve been looking for more cowbell length up front, this will be the car for you. And if you want to drive it before everyone else, sign up for AMG’s Driving Academy at Laguna Seca where there’ll be one on hand with what is sure to be plenty of thrust. And back down there in the antipodes the Joss Supercar stepped out from behind the curtain and came out to play…

Speaking of thrust, The Stig has been known to display a bit of it himself around the Top Gear test track. This shot, though, captures him employing a completely different sense of the word. For a glimpse of a man who cannot — and should not — be copied, here’s Jeremy Clarkson reviewing the Mercedes 600 SEL. Although it looks like it could have been filmed with W. C. Fields, it was actually done in 1991. And for another take on Clarkson, there are few better ways to end a week than with a trip to Clarkson Island…[Thanks for the tips Ben and Boston Eric]
