There’s never been a better time to be a gamer. While some frown at automotive video games, they give everyone the opportunity to enjoy cars that are out of reach. Not to mention they offer the opportunity to win
incredible prizes, like a Ford Focus RS. While the king of hot hatchbacks is awesome, it’s nothing compared to what
Formula E is giving away in its upcoming eSports race in Las Vegas.

Formula E’s upcoming eSports race will have 10 gamers competing against 20 current racecar drivers in rFactor 2 (a computer racing simulator) for the largest prize in eSports racing history, $1 million. During the
London ePrix weekend, Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag announced that Las Vegas would be the location for the virtual eRace that would take place in January. The eRace will be a part of the Sports Business Innovation Summit at the
Consumer Electronic Show that starts on January 5.

Fans and gamers from around the world will compete in a series of online qualifying races, which is being referred to as the “
Road to Vegas Challenge,” with the top 10 going on to race against actual Formula E drivers. The prize pot of $1 million will be divided into several prizes for the top-placing drivers. Organized by Cloud Sport, the first round of qualifying has gamers competing at Long Beach from October 17 to 23rd, with other rounds including Paris, Berlin, and London.

Recently, eRaces have played a large role in attracting new fans into the world of Formula E with a handful of drivers competing against one another at each race weekend. Giving gamers and fans around the world the ability to win a part of $1 million will surely draw more attention to the all-electric racing series.
