Faraday Future’s efforts to enter the high-end electric-vehicle market by way of a factory in Nevada may remind many of Tesla Motors, but a recent hire suggested that its first production car
may instead resemble a Toyota. And now, with spy shots of the company testing its autonomous-driving systems, there’s actually more of a resemblance to a Lincoln MKZ.

The spy shots (which you can see over at
Motor1) reveal a pretty wide four-door sedan. The giveaways that suggest some autonomous-driving features are the bar across the front grille and the sensors above the car’s roof rack. Faraday Future
received approval from the state of California to start testing its autonomous-driving features earlier this year.

Last month, an article at
Electrek hinted that the Faraday’s new exterior designer, Jin Won Kim, might take some design ideas from his former gig at Toyota to the startup automaker. Last month, the company confirmed that
its first production EV will see the light of day next year.

The company made a big splash in January with its unveiling of
the extremely racy FFZERO1 concept vehicle at Las Vegas’s Consumer Electronics Show. That Batmobile-looking car is designed to deliver 1,000 horsepower with a top speed of more than 200 miles per hour.

Whether it takes its cues from Batmobile or Lincoln, Tesla or Toyota – or all of them – Faraday is looking to produce its EVs out of a new factory in North Las Vegas, Nevada, which is
said to cost about $1 billion. And while that’s a mere fraction of Tesla’s $5 billion Gigafactory being built a few hundred miles north near Reno, some state legislators have
raised questions about the company’s ability to raise capital.
