Autoblog‘s second
UPSHIFT conference, which gathers innovators and thought leaders from Detroit, Silicon Valley, and around the world for a day of presentations, panels, tech demos, and networking, returns to Detroit on Thursday, October 19.
Last year’s UPSHIFT focused on the future of mobility, with speakers that included
Dan Gilbert (founder and chairman, Quicken Loans and Rock Ventures),
Bret Greenstein (vice president, IBM Watson Internet of Things), and
Karl Iagnemma (CEO, nuTonomy). This year we’re taking the theme further and examining the opportunities and disruption that inevitably come with a fully autonomous and connected future, from ethical and socioeconomic dilemmas to new ways for enthusiasts to enjoy motorsports. We’ll focus on issues surrounding mobility and infrastructure, security and privacy, design, and economics. Put simply, this gathering of creative minds will examine how society will deal with the greatest revolution in transportation in a century.
New for this year’s UPSHIFT is a partnership with Detroit-based
Techstars Mobility, a globally recognized accelerator that invests in startups building technologies and innovative business models focused on how people and goods move across all modes of transportation. Techstars Mobility Demo Day, an annual startup presentations and investor conference, takes place on Wednesday, October 18, at the Detroit Institute of the Arts. This event annually attracts over 1,000 individuals, with investors and automotive and transportation executives traveling to Detroit from around the world.
To bridge Demo Day and UPSHIFT,
Autoblog and Techstars will co-host a reception the evening of October 18 that will be open to attendees of both conferences. This reception will be held inside the historic
Detroit Institute of the Arts. We also expect a number of additional collaborative opportunities between Techstars and
Autoblog that week, so more details to come shortly!
If you’d like to learn more or attend either or both events, sign up here.
Editor’s Note: Autoblog is rescheduling UPSHIFT for 2018. We’ll let you know more when we have all the details and can’t wait to bring you the latest in mobility. It’s going to be great. Meanwhile, we’re still covering the Techstars Mobility Demo day Oct. 18 in Detroit and our editors and staff will be attending the Techstars reception that night. We look forward to seeing you then.
