According to Australia’s National Road and Motorists Association (NRMA) Insurance company, automakers are
neglecting women by not making “common sense” security devices standard on their vehicles, especially on
less expensive models.
Some suggested devices include:

  • Lights stay on as one leaves the car.
  • The ability to turn on the car’s headlights remotely.
  • Doors that lock automatically as one starts to drive off.

Of course, not all drivers (or Autoblog staffers) are crazy about auto-locking doors, and some fail to grasp why
the article is gender-specific, as safety is concept generaly valued by all, regardless of chromosomal makeup. In the
meantime, hopefully the first
“female” crash test dummy will illustrate that the automakers are definitely interested in security and
safety for the fairer sex.
