Word has it that the new Ford GT will not, as is becoming more typical with high
performance marques, be equipped with a spare tire. In lieu of the typical donut, Ford will be packing an automatic
roadside inflation and sealing system called the ContiComfortKit. Made by Continental Automotive systems, the kit is
about the size of a dictionary and takes approximately 9 minutes to seal and inflate a punctured tire. When questioned
about their decision not to use runflat tires, Ford stated that it is difficult to procure that sort of tire in the
GT’s size and still maintain the car’s phenomenal handling capabilities.
