President Bush visited a gas station that sells hydrogen fuel for cars on Wednesday to
promote hydrogen. Even with hydrogen currently twice the price of gasoline, it will be a while before the economics of
hydrogen are worked out. But it was still an opportunity to promote a $1.7 billion hydrogen research plan. Last week,
Bush visited a bio diesel refinery
and promoting alternative energy sources has become a big deal. Meanwhile back at the Senate, a
Senate committee approves a
requirement to use more ethanol and other renewable fuels in gasoline. It is all part of the politics of energy. With
greens on one side and energy producers (from oil companies to corn farmers) on the other, the consumer and the
interests of the nation are not center in these debates all the time.
