According to Dow Jones Newswires, ‘Executive of the Moment,’ Carlos
Ghosn, Nissan’s President and CEO announced Friday that the automaker will increase initiatives to hire more female
technical advisers in Japan. At present, only about 11% of the company’s dealer service employees are female, and Ghosn
hopes to boost that number to 20% by March 2008.

This move comes on the heels of Nissan’s Senior Veep, Kazuhiko Toida’s announcement that the company was working to
more than double the female contingent among its sales staff, from about 5% to 10% over the same period. Nissan says
that it currently has about 18,000 salespeople and 20,000 techs in Japan.

In the same press conference, Ghosn also expressed optimism regarding the state of the Japanese auto market, which
endured slipping sales totals in both October and November.
