The advanced-tech vehicle company ZAP is offering up a SMART car for auction on eBay. The company is the United States’ exclusive SMART distributor. Currently, the high bid is $15,000, and whatever you pony up now you probably make back later in fuel savings, as the car gets a miserly 60 mpg. It has generated considerable buzz as a true “city car”, and has long been popular in Europe. SMART plans to be fully engaged in the American market by 2006.
