If ever there was a perfect time to get their point across,
Teamsters locals 77 and 250 did it on Wednesday, and in the process gave holiday travelers a little treat. The Union
workers, who are toll collectors on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, went on strike early Wednesday morning, and effectively
gave everyone riding the turnpike a free ride. As the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the
year, it is estimated the state lost upwards of $2 million. As of Thursday morning, Turnpike managers were collecting
flat-rate tolls of $2 per car and $15 per commecial vehicle, which is a fairly significant discount, especially if
traveling across the state. Ah, behold the power of timing.
