Daihatsu to debut duo of concepts at Frankfurt

Though little heard of in the U.S. since its departure in 1992, Daihatsu is still kicking elsewhere around the world. The Japanese automaker is planning two concepts for Frankfurt– the D-Compact 4×4 and the HSV hybrid sports car (shown). The D-Compact 4×4 is a soft-roader meant for city-use that sports a 1.5L presumably 4-cylinder powerplant, while the HSV combines a 1.5L motor with a 4WD hybrid drivetrain that powers the rear wheels separately. We’re curious to meet the HSV in person in Frankfurt, as the concept sketch seems a bit hyperbolic.
