A European research group has recently unveiled the fruits of its three-year, $3.9 million research project to
develop a micro-car. The two-seater vehicle is called the CLEVER (Compact Low
Emission VEhicle for URban Transport).
The modified BMW bike engine provides 17.9 horsepower and a maximum torque of 15.5 at 6300 rpm. CLEVER uses natural
gas as its fuel and gets an impressive 98 miles per gallon. Even more impressive, though, is how the vehicle deals with
tilting around corners, a common problem among three-wheeled vehicles. When cornering, CLEVER angles its greenhouse
like a motorcycle.
More details and pictures can be found at the link. There is no information on when, if ever, the vehicle will
become available to the public.
